Brevity Takes Home 4 Addy's
American Advertising Federation Awards St. Louis
The Addy Awards are the advertising industry’s standard for recognizing creative excellence. We are extremely proud of our industry peers and our team for participating this year and just got to bring home a few awards for ourselves. This year’s advertising awards show, put on by event was held at the beautiful rooftop at the Bissinger’s Caramel Room, just north of the St. Louis arch.
It was a great night full of creativity and laughs, while the whiskey flowed like wine. Some of our favorite peers from the area were very well-represented. The Brevity team was excited and proud to sit at the table with these talented teams and bring home 4 awards for ourselves. The range of projects that we were recognized for included logo design, packaging, responsive web design, and user experience.

Brand Identity Design
Earlier in 2016, Brevity partnered with the creative team at Sugarfire Restaurant Group to launch a new restaurant in the Hi-Pointe Neighborhood of St. Louis, home to many city hot-spots, including the highest corner of Forest Park. After many thorough brainstorming sessions with their team and ours, we developed the “Hi.” logomark. We set out to create a lasting brand with cultural value that would generate interest. And simply, make something that could have pictures taken of it, sell some food, and some killer t-shirts & hats. Creating a functional mark for a brand with a name as long as “Hi-Pointe Drive-In” was a task in itself. In true Brevity fashion, we distilled the brand to its simplest form, “Hi.” When we pitched the mark to Chef Mike Johnson, he simply said, “I love the Hi.” We did too, and it turns out a few others share our love.
Packaging & Product Design
After their first year in business, our favorite beer consultants at the Saint Louis Hop Shop wanted to create something that represented the fruits of their labor in building this well-known St. Louis brand, bottle shop, and unique retail concept. Beer. The Hop Shop partnered with some of the greatest brewers in the world at Modern Brewery and brought us in to design a package that would represent their dream and, y’know, sell some beer. Since this beer was produced in limited quantities, we were able to add an unusual and welcome amount of hand-craftedness to the package. The product name was laid out in custom antique, Belgian-inspired lettering, with some hand-crafted elements to pair. Each bottle tag tells the story of how the beer came to be, and encourages drinkers to enjoy the beer in the same way that it was built. With friends. The Fruits du Labeur packaging design has also been featured on the design inspiration blog, Packaging of the World, as well as in the 22nd Annual St. Louis AIGA Design Show.
Responsive Web Design & UX
The St. Louis Murmuration Festival is the brainchild of Loufest Founder Brian Cohen, and the Cortex Innovation District leadership. When the Murmuration team approached us to design and build a website that would represent this unique art, music, science, and technology festival, we were extremely honored and excited with the opportunity. We knew that the online experience for the Fest had to represent the in-person experience just the same. Our design-focused team took the extra care to ensure that the brand experience was interactive and enhanced, while providing a clear navigation and overall delightful user experience for festival-goers and sponsors, alike. We had so much fun with this project that it was also voted into 3 international design awards and publications, Awwwards, CSS Design Awards, and Communication Arts.
Congratulations to our team, our peers, and, of course, the folks we couldn’t do this without–our clients. We had a great time preparing for and taking part in the Addy’s this year. If you’d like to see more of our work, check out our case studies, or just give us a call and we might just invite you in for a beer and a burger.
