New Website. What Now?
How to Increase Website Traffic After Launch
Time To Increase Website Traffic
Congratulations! You have a new website. Take some time to celebrate, and then it’s time to do something to increase website traffic. Let’s start by looking at some easy things you can knock out in order to make sure that you’re getting the most out of this new tool.
Before taking it live, make sure you have software in place to start tracking data. We like using a combination of a few different systems in order to maximize the information that we receive from users interacting with the website.
Google Analytics is one of the most important tools, so be sure to have that turned on before launching your site. It is easy to implement and has a ton of unique tracking features on it. The best part is that it’s free! Another easy tool to implement is the heat mapping tool, HotJar. This is a tool that will track users on your site and you will be able to watch a video of their interactions. This is extremely helpful when it comes to optimizing sales funnels, ensuring that your website is capturing information and generating sales for you.
Once you have the proper tracking metrics in order, it’s time to increase website traffic so you can begin monitoring your presence online.
1. Keep up with content creation.
Google is getting smarter and smarter by the day. Gone are the days of dropping multiple sentences that talk about your product/service and a city. Today’s users want quality content that helps them in their decision-making process. We focus on creating content with the proper data structures in order to make sure search engines are properly indexing and reading the website. This helps dramatically with organic search results. By doing this, it costs search tools like Google less money to index your site, because search robots only have to crawl it once or twice in order to make sure you are real.
2. Get your listings looking good.
Looking at all the places that your company’s contact information resides on is huge. Things like Google and Bing Business Listings, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau, and any social listing like Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter, are great examples of low hanging fruit that can have an impact on your search listings.
3. Engage users through social media marketing.
Social media marketing is one of the most cost-effective and efficient ways to drive potential leads to your website. Now, keep in mind that posting a quick picture of your product and throwing money at social media advertising isn’t going to cut it. This should be hyper-focused content that targets your ideal audience. The content should be aesthetically pleasing and should not interrupt the user’s experience when they are on their own social network. Once we have them clicking through to your site we can drop retargeting cookies into their browsers which ensures that you can reach them when they’re ready to make a purchase. It may take a few times for a user to see your brand online, but each time they are easing them closer and closer to making a purchase or requesting the service that you offer.
4. Create valuable downloadable resources.
If you offer a service or can provide value with a downloadable resource that shows your industry expertise, then your audience may be willing to give up their email address. Once you have that information you can get those users into a CRM to start tracking their progress through the website as well as queue them into email drip campaigns. Getting them into a sales qualifying system and giving them a point for every time they visit your site can show you their level of interest. For example, if someone revisits a service page on your site a few times, you can send them an email that talks about that service in more detail and about why it’s helpful. After all, you got them to come to your website through great social media content. Why not capture a little information from them in order to retarget your audience and stay top of mind?
5. Build your network.
Influencer marketing is becoming another great area to start attracting a following and increase website traffic. Reaching out to local individuals who you could sponsor is a cost-effective way to expand your brand’s reach to their followers and encourage them to interact with your brand. Your brand can be in control of the creative, imagery, and how/when it is posted. The key benefit of influencer marketing is that it’s more subtle and should be more honest. Instead of someone saying “go buy this”, it’s someone talking about their experience with your brand. This is content that individuals can relate to.
